His World

The room had grown quite and the fire burned warm and soothing in the fireplace.

The kids, all tired out after playing around, laughing and basically scheming to bring the world to its knees had dozed off around the living room. Their youngest daughter was curled up in his laps, their boy on his Mama’s and their oldest daughter on the couch opposite. He puts his arms around his wife, turns to look at her. She was resting her head on his shoulder, and looking at him. Sees her smiling. Just smiling with all the happiness and love. He kisses her and smiles. Sighs happily and takes in every single detail around him in that moment. Thinking, “This is my home. This is my world and I am living in it. People go to such lengths as to buy new cars, big mansions and whatever else they do to find happiness. But for me, this is everything I’ll ever need. Everything that can make me happy is right here. I am home”

Knowing that he had found true happiness and everything he ever needed, he hugs her wife tighter. It had all been possible because of her. She was his center. His anchor in life. His best friend and partner in life. She had become his world and it grew from there on. He had never imagined in his wildest dreams that he could ever have anything like this until she came along.

“I love you. I love you with everything I have, my precious”, he says to her. She looks at him, kiss him and says,”As I love you, my darling husband”. Hearing her always made him so happy and excited, no matter how much time passed. She nuzzles against his neck and closes her eyes. Holding her close and watching over his world, his family, he just smiles and takes it all in.

The Diary

It was a pleasant evening, with the sun dipping over the horizon. Insects were buzzing and the birds chirping as they returned to their homes, settling in for the night. The horizon turned orange with purple hues, with stars flickering through the evening sky.

The pond reflected rays of the setting sun along it’s shimmering surface. Besides the glistening pond stood a hut, two stories tall and adorned with french windows and bricks lined on the exterior.

He took a deep breath and slowly started pushing the bicycle his son, now four years old, was learning to ride. He urged him to feel the balance and to always keep his hands on the brakes.

As he pushed, he felt his son gain balance, albeit a bit groggily. When he was certain that his son was getting the gist of it and finding his balance, he slowly let go of the grip, but still running and ready to hold the bike if the balance got disturbed. After running some distance, confident and proud that his son was finally riding on his own, he stopped and smiled wide, watching his son pedal and find his own way. Still smiling and proud, he turned around and looked at his wife and daughter, now five years old, standing at the entrance holding hands. His wife’s other hand resting on her belly, softly stroking the baby they were expecting.

They came down the stairs, their daughter holding her mommy’s hand and watching her every step, making sure she was comfortable and there was nothing in the way. For she was watching over her mom and the baby and wasn’t liking the idea of her mom exerting herself and walking about at all.

He looked at his family and surveyed the surroundings. It was a perfect evening by all means, because he had his whole world right there with him. As he began walking towards their home, his son had been cycling back and was reaching the stairs. He got off and gently kissed his mom’s tummy and hugged her. Feeling proud and immensely happy, she showered their son with affection and kisses.

As he reached the stairs, the kids were already running inside and his wife held out her hand, smiling at him with love and admiration. She arched her neck up, he bent over, kissed her and said to her, “Happy sixth anniversary, my love”. She beamed with happiness and said, “Happy sixth anniversary, my darling husband”. He held her hand and gave her a warm kiss on her forehead, conveying his love for his wife.

They turned towards the pond and walked along it, wading through the soft grass, holding hands, talking, giggling and so much in love. The air smelled sweet because of the moist earth and the scent of tulips and lilies surrounded them.

They watched the sun set as its last rays reached them. He turned, looked at his wife. Her beautiful face radiant in the orange light, hair flowing along her shoulders and eyes gleaming, as she watched the sun set. God Almighty, moments like these were the most beautiful and he felt so blessed to have this wonderful woman in his life. He let out a breath and whispered, “Oh honey, you’re so beautiful!”. She giggled, looked at him and said, “Just your wife, honey” and rested her head against his chest, hugging him.

They stood there holding each other for the longest time. Love flowing between them and their hearts beating in sync.

As the sun set into the horizon, they turned to their hut and walked to it, hand in hand. Cherishing each moment and recalling the beautiful six years of their lives.

My Wolf

I wrote this post a few weeks ago, portraying the rush of joy and love one feels upon seeing their special someone. Do give it a read and let me know in the comments section about what you think. Thank you for visiting!

The Diary

I was trotting through the wild, fog and mist surrounding the fern. Black clouds hovering above, casting shadow across the boscage. I was walking around, taking in the forest, smelling the mud, hearing the insects, seeing every minute detail in front of me.

I reached a clearing and saw another wolf, curled up next to a tree. She raised her head, brought her soulful eyes to rest on me. Thor Almighty, she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I walked upto her, looking deep in her eyes.

I touched my head to hers, my coat rubbing along hers. I licked her coat, grooming her. Nibbled at her fur, cleaning it up.

Slowly, she got up on her feet. Stood right in front of me. In an instant we realised, we were meant to be. We howled. We howled in chorus. In recognition of the counterpart of our…

Here now, and forever

He walked through the ancient ruins of a castle that once stood in splendour.

Glass shattered and walls charred, he walked through the dry twigs and grass.

He looked at the giant columns rising high, and the marble staircase that was once polished and smooth.

The fountains in the garden had run dry. Plants and shrubs had grown between the cracks and claimed their space.

The air around weighed heavy with memories of that once used to be. A stately palace, fit for a queen to be.

He climbed the stairs, entered the courtyard. There was not a sign of anyone but him.

He walked and walked and sauntered into the courtroom. As he went in, what he saw made his heart miss a beat.

For there stood the queen to be, of whom people had heard just mysteries. Her hair disheveled and her eyes fixed on him.

He saw that she held something in her hands. He inched closer step by step. Looked into her eyes and saw them calling out to him.

He inched closer and saw what she held. It was her heart, splintered into a thousand shards.

Feeling a surge of emotions inside him, he came and stood in front of her. Held out his hands and brought them over her heart.

With all his being and all he had, he infused his warmth and strength into her heart. Kept at it untill it was glowing and whole again.

For he was a magician’s apprentice, he waved his hand and brought the palace around them back to life. The carpets smooth and torches ablaze. The windows healed and the sunlight streamed in, bathing the courtroom in its yellow light.

He looked at her and stood spellbound. For she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. With his hand over her heart, he could feel and sense what she’d been through with time. The more he saw, the more in awe of her he felt.

He thought to himself, this woman has been through hell and back and yet she stood strong. He saw her smile. Her hand reached and stroked his face. He inched closer and kissed her head. Picked up the fallen crown and placed it on her head.

He took a step back and looked at his queen. She stood tall, radiating such love and beauty. He stood there transfixed for a while.

Coming closer, he took her hand and said to her, “I have been looking for a long time for you and now I am here.”.

He kissed the back of her hand and said, “You are my mission. You are my home. For the longest time I’ve asked the stars, why they put me on this land.”

“Now I know, I was born to be with you. To hold your hand forevermore. You have given a reason to my life. And that’s to keep you happy and safe. To keep your heart beating warm and fill it with love.”.

“I’m here now and everything will be alright.”.

Coming Home

In parallel with The Celebration written by Varnika Jain.

It had been five months. He kept thinking of the first time they met. With a smile on his face and love in his eyes, he thought of the five months with her. Cherishing each moment with her. It seemed as though life before her didn’t exist. He didn’t remember the world before she came to him. She was everything he’d ever need.

His mind raced through a thousand possible ways to celebrate this evening with her. But this woman, what could he get her that was worth more than the entire world. All of a sudden, he realized what he’d do. With a smile beaming on his face and heart racing wild, he turned off his desktop, grabbed his coat and left for home.

All along the way, he kept thinking of every moment spent with her. Emotions swelled within him, filling him up and surrounding him in love. His heart beat wild, ramming hard against his ribcage. Raring like a leopard to sprint to her as fast as it could flutter. He put a palm on his beating heart and whispered, “Almost there bud. We’ll be home soon.”

He took a turn and saw their home down the street. As he pulled into the driveway, he could feel her presence. Her warmth touched him through the walls. He could sense her heart as his own began beating in synch with hers.

As he walked to the door, he looked at his watch. It was almost midnight. He smiled as he inserted the key in the knob and swung open the door.

Breathing in anticipation of seeing her, he walked to their room with a spring in his feet. As he reached the room, he saw her. His beautiful love, sitting in the centre of the bed. He saw her sitting in his old tee, hair made in a bun. Pizza crumbs on the bedspread and cheese. But he saw none of that. Because he was transfixed on her beauty. He thought, “Thor Almighty! Her beauty increases with each passing day.”.

He saw her pout and tears welling up. Telling she couldn’t find the perfect way to celebrate. His heart erupted in a volcano of emotions. He felt so much love and warmth for her.

He walked to the bed, smiled. Held her in his arms, told her he’d cherish nothing more than coming home to her after a hard day’s work. Kissed her and wished her, “Happy five months, darling!”, as the clock struck midnight.

Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her head. Buried her in his chest and held her there. Looking in her eyes, he said, “We don’t need a perfect way to celebrate, hon. Any moment with you, my love, is a celebration in itself. When we talk, laugh, cook, bake, drink, sit under the stars. They’re all made perfect with you being here.”

Kissing her forehead, he continued, “When I tuck you in for the night, kiss your sleepy eyes. Get you tea. Every moment”.

She interrupted, “I do sleep a lot.”

He said, “And when you sleep, I hold you close. Keeping you warm and safe. When your sleep is disturbed, I kiss your forehead and cradle  you back to sleep. When you’re sleepless, I hum our song to you, so you can sleep.”.

Seeing her tears, he kisses her eyes and says, “You are my celebration.” And hugs her tight.
